Eldo serves as the performing alias for Leszek Kaźmierczak, a Polish rapper and radio journalist who helped establish the acclaimed hip-hop collective Grammatik. His work stands out for its lyrical depth and wide-ranging, ambitious beats, yet he has drawn sharp public backlash for outspoken critiques of the domestic rap community alongside his right-leaning political stance. Exposure to breakdancing and graffiti first sparked his interest in the culture, leading him to begin writing rhymes in 1997 and to launch Grammatik alongside MC Jotuze. The crew issued a self-released EP in 1998 that Blend Records later expanded into a full album the next year. Their 2000 follow-up, Światła Miasta, issued via T1-Teraz, climbed to number five on the Polish album charts and proved a major breakthrough before the group went on hiatus. Eldo then embarked on a solo path with the 2001 T1-Teraz release Opowieść O Tym, Co Tu Dzieje Się Naprawdę, quickly gaining notoriety for his frank assessments of Polish hip-hop while also entering multiple freestyle battle competitions. His second effort, Eternia, surfaced on Blend Records in 2003 and reached the national Top Ten. Grammatik reconvened in 2004, issuing the Embargo Nagrania EP Reaktywacja that year and the album 3 in 2005. A 2006 collaboration with Bitnix yielded the stylistically diverse Człowiek, Który Chciał Ukraść Alfabet, which incorporated jazz, drum’n’bass, and soul elements. After signing with My Music in 2007, Eldo delivered the solo album 27, another Top Ten entry, while Grammatik put out what would be their last project, Podróże. Following the crew’s 2008 dissolution, he released Nie Pytaj O Nią, his first solo gold-certified record. The 2010 successor Zapiski z 1001 Nocy fared even better, topping the charts and moving close to 30,000 units. After the 2012 concert album and DVD Live in Warsaw, the studio set Chi arrived in 2014 and became another number-one, gold-certified success.
