Phoebe Killdeer

Emerging first in 2004, Phoebe Killdeer serves as lead vocalist of Phoebe Killdeer & the Short Straws and drew early notice by supplying vocals for Nouvelle Vague’s renditions of ’80s pop ballads alongside reprises of new wave classics. Multiple tracks on the group’s second album, Bande à Part, carried her voice, and she joined them for wide-ranging tours. Ahead of those Nouvelle Vague covers or her Short Straws work, she contributed vocals to several leading electronic artists, among them Zero dB on the track “Sunshine Lazy” and Basement Jaxx, for whom she sang “Tonight” on the Kish Kash album. Phoebe Killdeer & the Short Straws issued their debut full-length album, Weather’s Coming, in 2008.
