PHOX

PHOX, a vibrant sextet rooted in Wisconsin, fuses intricate polyrhythms and psychedelic-tinged art-rock with sweet, emotive indie pop. The ensemble originated in 2011 inside Baraboo, located an hour north of Madison, built around the abilities of longtime companions Monica Martin, Matt Holmen, J. Sean Krunnfusz, Davey Roberts, Matteo Roberts, and Zach Johnston, who first connected while attending high school. Labeling their singular, worldly sonic approach as existing somewhere between "Feist and Monty Python," the group developed into a widely discussed fixture throughout the Midwest before signing with the established Partisan Records, the Brooklyn-based independent label that later put out the sextet’s self-titled debut album in 2014.
