The Hunts comprise a seven-piece indie folk family ensemble featuring twin sisters Jenni and Jessi Hunt alongside brothers Josh, Jordan, Justin, Jonathan, and Jamison. In Chesapeake, Virginia, the siblings grew up inside a modest three-bedroom home set on expansive grounds, where their mother Sandy, a fiddle instructor, trained each child on violin prior to their adoption of individual instruments. Their father Clint, who worked as an arborist while pursuing music part-time, joined his wife for local performances; over time that pair expanded to encompass the entire household as the children matured. The siblings eventually established their own group, drawing from the late-2000s indie folk surge to weave intricate vocal layers and blend fiddle, guitar, banjo, ukulele, and additional folk tools within a folk-pop framework. Following multiple years of nationwide touring, Cherrytree Records/Interscope signed the band and issued the 2014 EP Life Was Simple, with the full-length debut Those Younger Days arriving the next year.
