Born in France, singer and songwriter Pierre Aderne moved to his Brazilian mother’s homeland as an infant and spent his teenage years in Brasilia. A household alive with actors and musicians shaped his early path, his mother working as an art educator and his father as a philosopher. At seventeen he assembled the band Habeas Corpus with Mac William, Tom Capone and Dunga; the group attracted crowds of up to 60,000 and placed tracks on Warner’s Brazilian rock anthologies, earning notice at home and overseas. After the ensemble disbanded, Aderne performed solo from Brasilia, supporting Charlie Garcia and Ivan Lins. In 1990 he settled in Rio de Janeiro to join its larger and more active music community. His appearance on the 2007 soccer-anthem project Hinos Dos Times de Futebol -- Revista Placar, recorded with several of Brazil’s leading artists, reached his biggest audience yet, holding the top national-chart position for several weeks. The 2005 Brazilian release of his debut album Casa de Praia drew strong critical praise and steady Rio radio play; its 2006 Japanese edition made him that country’s highest-selling Brazilian artist. International stages followed, among them an opening slot for Ben Harper in Lisbon in September 2006 and a headline set at the Houston SXSW Festival in 2007.
