Biography
Pikku-Orava, whose name means "Little Squirrel," functions as a widely enjoyed vocalizing rodent and serves as a refreshed take on the once equally favored Saukki & Pikkuoravat, Finland's own adaptation of Alvin & the Chipmunks. Performing in an elevated register, the character interprets domestic chart successes that stretch from easy listening to heavy metal. Effective promotion through interviews and animated music videos helped establish its audience. Released in 2006, "His" debut album Uusi Seedee ("New Ceedee") climbed to number one on the Finnish charts and earned platinum certification. The next project, Kesa Ceedee ("Summer Ceedee"), matched those sales figures. Acts covered by Pikku-Orava encompass Eurovision pop contest winner Lordi, the Manowar-influenced heavy metal act Teräsbetoni, and the popular singing duo Matti & Teppo. An album also appeared in Germany during summer 2007.
