R&B vocalist Marcus Ramone Cooper, professionally known as Pleasure P, first rose to prominence as a core member of Pretty Ricky before pursuing an independent path. Throughout the late 2000s and early 2010s he accumulated multiple chart successes, later rejoined his former bandmates for a 2014 reunion, and simultaneously maintained his solo output while appearing for several seasons on the VH1 reality series Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.

Born December 27, 1984, in Miami, Florida, Pleasure P made his recorded introduction on Pretty Ricky’s debut full-length, Bluestars (2005). Issued by Atlantic Records, the project earned gold certification and yielded the Top Ten single “Grind with Me” along with the Top 20 follow-up “Your Body.” The group’s next effort, Late Night Special (2007), likewise performed strongly, delivering the hits “On the Hotline” and “Push It Baby.” Shortly after that album’s release, Pleasure P declared his exit from the collective to launch a solo trajectory.

His first standalone single, “Did You Wrong,” appeared in 2008 and quickly gained traction. The full-length The Introduction of Marcus Cooper arrived in June 2009. In 2014 a mixtape titled Break Up to Make Up surfaced, showcasing several guest appearances by DJ Clue. That same year Pretty Ricky revealed plans to reunite with Pleasure P and issue the sequel album Bluestars 2 in 2015. Although the reconstituted lineup issued the single “Puddles,” the projected album faced repeated postponements. During the interim Pleasure P issued numerous standalone tracks and the 2018 studio album She Likes. He maintained momentum by dropping further material, capping the year with the single “Bust a Whine” featuring Amara La Negra.
