South African house DJ and producer Prince Kaybee rose to prominence on the local club circuit during the mid-2010s after issuing the popular collaboration “Charlotte” alongside Lady Zamar. His polished dance productions kept attracting listeners through later successes such as “Club Controller” and “Banomoya,” both drawn from the 2019 album Re Mmino. Kaybee has also maintained an unusually steady release schedule, issuing at least one album each year, among them Gemini in 2022 and Music Theory in 2023.

Born Kabelo Motsamai in Senekal, Free State, South Africa, he is the youngest of 36 siblings fathered by the same parent. He secured work as a club DJ in Bloemfontein, later purchasing a laptop and instructing himself in electronic dance music production. Adopting the moniker Prince Kaybee, he began building recognition through live performances and placements on various compilations in 2014. Breakthrough arrived in 2016 via the Lady Zamar pairing “Charlotte,” which brought multiple Metro FM Music Award nominations. Momentum persisted in the ensuing years with releases including “Yonkinto” featuring Zanda and the 2017 debut album I Am Music. The 2019 project Re Mmino supplied further successes, the most notable being “Club Controller” with LaSoulMates, TNS, and Zanda Zakuza. After the Crossover Music EP that same year, he focused on elevating lesser-known female vocalists through the 2020 compilation Project Hope (Season 1), which included Thembisile Q and Thalitha.

Kaybee sustained his high-volume output by delivering a new, extensively collaborative album each year. The 4th Republic in 2021 spotlighted the track “Umenitosha” with Polaris, while Gemini in 2022 contained the atmospheric “Sbindi Uyabulala” alongside Nkosazana Daughter and Masuda plus “Breakfast in Soweto” with Ben September and Mandlin Beams. Another full-length arrived the next year in the form of Music Theory, whose standout cut was “Fearless” featuring Pilani Bubu.
