Although active from the 1990s onward, DJ Ganyani established his distinctive presence in the early 2000s as a prominent name in South African house music, first gaining widespread attention through the breakthrough compilations Simunye House Grooves Vol. 1 and 2 before launching the enduring album series Ganyani's House Grooves, which stood at ten volumes by 2017. His performances have spanned nightclubs, street parties, and football stadiums, where he has shared bills with T-Boze, DJ Tira, and Little Louie Vega while also teaming up with Big Nuz and additional partners.

Born Ganyani Tshabalala in Soweto, he launched Ganyani Entertainment during the '90s to supply entertainment services for assorted corporate clients. By the start of the new millennium he had secured a firm foothold in the club circuit, prompting the South African Development Community (SADC) in Botswana to commission him for a pair of Simunye House Grooves collections aimed at promoting their Simunye brand, the Zulu term meaning "we are one." The first volume appeared in 2001 and earned him a gold disc, with the follow-up arriving the next year; together they markedly elevated his profile, especially among younger club audiences.

In subsequent years he steadily expanded the Ganyani Entertainment imprint while appearing alongside leading figures from the club and house worlds. He initiated his own Ganyani's House Grooves compilation series, which gained strong traction throughout the early and middle 2010s. The 2015 installment, Ganyani's House Grooves, Vol. 9, included joint tracks with Big Nuz, Toshi, and WandaBoy. A tenth volume followed in 2017, coinciding with the start of his ongoing single collaborations alongside singer Goodluck.
