South African disc jockey, music producer, and broadcast personality Themba Mbongeni Nkosi, known professionally as Euphonik, first captured national attention in 2013 through the chart-topping collaboration “Cool and Deadly” alongside DJ Fresh and Nyanda. From 2017 onward he began delivering techno and house performances under the single name Themba, then released his thirteenth album, the star-laden house- and EDM-infused Perspective, in 2018.

Raised in Mpumalanga, Nkosi absorbed his father’s record collection featuring Marvin Gaye, the Spinners, Hugh Masekela, and Stimela. In his late teens he started working as a club DJ; once his mixes received airplay he secured a hosting slot on national station 5FM. Teaming with fellow South African DJ Kent in 2004 yielded the album Kentphonik. Over the following years he honed a signature blend of vocal house and EDM while continuing on-air work at both 5FM and YFM. A recording contract with Soul Candi arrived in 2006. In 2009 he co-founded the band F.Eu with longtime associate DJ Fresh; the pair have since issued four albums and performed in such locales as Ibiza and Miami.

The 2013 single “Cool and Deadly,” again with DJ Fresh and Jamaican vocalist Nyanda, ascended to number one on South African charts. In 2014 Nkosi earned the Metro FM music award for Best Compilation Album for For the Love of House, Vol. 5. Nominations followed in 2015 for For the Love of House, Vol. 6 and the track “Busa.” Adding techno to his sets in 2017 prompted the adoption of the performing alias Themba. Perspective appeared the next year as Euphonik’s thirteenth long-player, notable for its extensive guest roster and dancefloor energy. Two further singles, “I’m Worthy (feat. Kelly Fortuin)” and “All the Moves”—the latter recorded with DJ Thakzin and Leko M—emerged in 2019.
