Biography
Having grown up together in Durham, North Carolina, Johnny Irion (vocals, guitar), Ryan Pickett (guitar), Chris Hollaway (bass), and Zeke Hutchins (drums) began rehearsing as Queen Sarah Saturday during 1990. Thirsty Ear issued the group’s first EP in August 1993, with the album Weave arriving twelve months afterward. Though the quartet’s messy, melodic power pop never reached a national listenership, the song “Seems” appeared in the 1995 film Empire Records, after which frontman Johnny Irion built a modest solo catalog and worked on joint projects with his wife Sarah Lee Guthrie.
