Biography
Country pop quartet Radio Romance injects the Nashville circuit with a youthful, party-centric spirit through its upbeat, harmony-driven tracks brimming with memorable hooks and shaped by the sounds of Alabama, Eric Church, and Jason Aldean. Formed in Hermitage, Tennessee, in 2011, the group began when vocalists Sam Hayes, guitarist Josh Gramling, and drummer Moises Padilla—three longtime friends who had each practiced their instruments since childhood—joined forces. Initially working as a cover act across Nashville venues, the trio later committed to original material and borrowed its name from Eddie Rabbitt’s 1982 album Radio Romance. The band unveiled its debut EP, What’s Stopping You, via Treehouse in 2014 and followed it with a B-Sides collection the next year. After adding bassist Adam Smithwick as a permanent member, Radio Romance issued the singles “Secrets” and “Cheap Beer Years.” The newly solidified quartet then delivered its first collective EP, Sounds of a Quiet Town, on HYGB Records in 2017. That same year the group earned a major career lift by capturing the grand prize in the NASHNext contest, securing a recording contract with Big Machine Records—the home of Taylor Swift, Midland, and Sugarland. Radio Romance released its inaugural single for the label, “Weekend,” in 2018.
