Romain Virgo

Emerging from Stepney in Saint Ann Parish, Jamaica, where he first drew breath in 1990, reggae artist Romain Virgo gained swift recognition after stepping onto the televised contest All Together Sing at age sixteen. Triumph in the Digicel Rising Stars event the following year delivered both a sizable cash award and a recording deal with Greensleeves Records. Fresh from secondary school in 2007, he promptly began releasing singles whose sound drew deeply from classic lovers rock and roots reggae traditions, quickly yielding multiple successes. The self-titled debut album appeared in 2010 through VP Records, while its successor, The System, followed in 2012 on the same imprint. A reggae reinterpretation of Sam Smith's "Stay with Me" became a major success in 2014, accumulating millions of streams and rising on the charts. LoveSick, his third full-length project, surfaced in 2017.
