Biography
Ron Holden’s entry into the music industry began with an arrest for marijuana and alcohol possession. While he was in custody, an officer overheard him singing and instructed him to reach out once he was free. That officer, Larry Nelson, was preparing to exit law enforcement and launch his own record label. Nelson issued Holden’s debut single, “Love You So,” in 1960; the track climbed to number seven on the Pop Singles chart that year. Donna Records subsequently acquired the rights and issued an LP, yet none of Holden’s later singles matched its performance, prompting his early retirement. The song resurfaced in 1994 when Del-Fi reissued it.
