The Earls

Recognized as one of the standout white doo wop ensembles, the Earls originated under the name the High Hatters. Their formation took place in 1957 at the Tecumseh Social Club located in the Bronx. Larry Figueiredo, who served as the lead vocalist, adopted the stage name Larry Chance and performed alongside Bob Del Din, Eddie Harder, Larry Palumbo, and Jack Wray. Beginning in 1961, the ensemble initiated recordings with the Rome label. Their sole successful track arrived in 1963 via "Remember Then," issued on Old Town, which reached number 29 on the R&B chart without breaking into the upper tiers. Activity persisted through 1970 prior to their dissolution. In 1975 the Earls attempted a revival featuring Chance once more, now performing together with Ronnie Calabrese and Tony Obert.
