Biography
Singer/songwriter Rosey grew up immersed in music, a passion she traces directly to the energy of her large family. The Beatles entered her world when she discovered her parents’ record collection near the age of seven, and the Fab Four’s buoyant pop immediately captivated her. While attending college she hosted a world-music program at the campus station, where she also steeped herself in the broad range of urban fusion sounds. After holding numerous positions throughout the music business, she recognized her own artistic direction and relocated from New York to San Francisco in the late ’90s. There she assembled a band and developed into a soulful, blues-tinged songstress. Her profile rose sharply once the sultry track “Love” was featured in the 2001 film Bridget Jones’s Diary. Several months afterward, “Afterlife” appeared in the Farrelly Brothers comedy Shallow Hal. Rosey issued her debut studio full-length, Dirty Child, in June 2002 and spent that summer on the road with Meredith Brooks and Melissa Etheridge.
