SASSY 009

Sassy 009, the Oslo, Norway-based act, produces abstract electro-pop veering into house, techno, and industrial realms through ethereal synth layers paired with abrasive, driving rhythms. What began as a trio evolved into the solo vehicle of founder Sunniva Lindgård in 2019, the same year the second EP Kill Sassy 009 appeared. Later projects such as the 2021 release Heart Ego incorporated drum'n'bass and synthwave touches.

Lindgård, whose parents were classically trained musicians, selected Sassy 009 as a SoundCloud handle before creating music of her own. She launched the project in early 2017 alongside former classmate Teodora Geoegijevic and mutual friend Johanna Orellana; the three initially generated left-field dance-pop pieces built around stacked vocals and dense flute parts. Their debut EP Do You Mind arrived on Luft Recordings late that year.

By 2019 Sassy 009 had unexpectedly contracted to Lindgård alone. She tracked Kill Sassy 009 at Luft Studios alongside co-producer BAYA (Andrew Murray), and the EP surfaced that November. Sassy 009 also joined Clairo on the single "Lara," a song concerning an attraction to video-game icon Lara Croft. Singles such as "Blue Racecar" and "Mystery Boy" preceded the 2021 mixtape Heart Ego.
