Seachange

Hailing from Nottingham, the moody anthemic sextet Seachange comprises vocalist Dan Eastop, guitarists Adam Cormack and Dave Grey, bassist James Vyner, violinist Johanna Woodnutt, and drummer Simon Aldcroft. While all studying together at Nottingham University in the late '90s, the members began performing as a unit after sharing a house said to be haunted. Intense live performances built their following, and that same drive shaped the singles issued on the Radiate and Gringo labels. The six-piece signed with Matador Records in summer 2003, leading the label to release their News from Nowhere and Glitterball singles before the year closed. The following spring saw the arrival of Seachange’s debut full-length, Lay of the Land, after which they toured the U.K. and the U.S. with Oceansize, Pretty Girls Make Graves, the Rosebuds, and Guided By Voices.
