Biography
Seasick Steve, the blues performer born in Oakland, California, spent his formative years traveling as a hobo and establishing temporary homes in Olympia, Washington, along with Norway. Well after he had already launched his professional career, the initial album from Seasick Steve & the Level Devils, titled Cheap, appeared in 2004. Fronting a raw trio that featured standup bass and drums, he delivered gritty vocals and electric guitar lines across lean electric blues tracks whose seemingly spontaneous quality evoked classic juke joint performances.
