A Nashville-based quintet blending roots rock with vintage blues and the rollicking energy of swampy Bayou boogie, the Delta Saints have built a devoted following both in the United States and overseas through their lively, wide-ranging style. Singer and dobro guitarist Ben Ringel joined forces with bassist David Supica to launch the group in 2007 while the two were enrolled at Belmont University. Seeking enjoyment and new connections, Ringel and Supica recruited guitarist Dylan Fitch, which formed the initial core. Drummer Ben Azzi and harmonica player Greg Hommert soon completed the lineup, allowing the Delta Saints to perform regularly in Nashville clubs and issue the EP Pray On in 2009. The 2010 release of another EP, A Bird Called Angola, coincided with expanded touring that reached Europe and helped establish a steady audience there. A German label combined those two EPs into the album titled The Delta Saints in 2011. The band delivered its first full-length effort, Death Letter Jubilee, in 2013 as Steven Henner took over harmonica from Hommert. Henner exited several months later just ahead of a summer European tour, and keyboardist Nate Kremer stepped in. The 2014 EP Drink It Slow featured the group’s live staple cover of Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy,” while Live at Exit/In appeared months afterward, documenting two sold-out nights at a beloved hometown venue. A partnership with Loud & Proud Records yielded the album Bones in 2015, the same year Vincent Williams joined on drums. In 2016 the musicians traveled to La Jolla, California, to develop new songs at Fitch’s grandmother’s house. Working with producer Eddie Spear and folding a harder rock approach into their sound, they released their third studio album, Monte Vista, in 2017.
