Beginning guitar studies at six years old in Texas, Tyler Bryant demonstrated such rapid skill that by eleven he could hold his own in sessions with grown musicians, making his path as a performer unmistakable. He relocated to Nashville in his final high school year, completing remaining requirements remotely before receiving his diploma, and from that point forward committed fully to honing an intense, technically sharp style that blended blues with hard rock. At fifteen he appeared at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Festival, an early milestone that underscored his accelerating trajectory.

He soon formed the Shakedown, a tight unit featuring Caleb Crosby on drums, Noah Denney on bass, and Graham Whitford—son of Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford—on second guitar. The group generated immediate attention on the blues and rock circuit, landing support slots with Aerosmith, B.B. King, Clapton, and additional headliners. Their first release, the EP My Radio, arrived in spring 2011, followed later that year by the seven-track album From the Sandcastle. Early 2013 brought the twelve-song Wild Child, cut on analog tape under engineer Vance Powell.

Strong reception for Wild Child secured a contract with John Varvatos/Republic Records, which issued the 2015 EP The Wayside. The next year the band toured in support of Guns N' Roses. In 2017 they delivered the self-titled Tyler Bryant & the Shakedown, highlighted by the single "Heartland," with Truth & Lies arriving two years later.
