Biography
Formed in 2011, the British hard rock, blues, and R&B outfit known as the Temperance Movement brought together Glasgow-born lead singer Phil Campbell, guitarists Luke Potashnick and Paul Sayer, bassist Nick Fyffe, and Australia-born drummer Damon Wilson. Their commanding stage presence quickly built a loyal following, leading to a deal with metal label Earache Records. The imprint first issued the EP Pride in 2012, then issued the self-titled full-length The Temperance Movement in fall 2013, a set that added seven fresh tracks to the five songs already featured on the EP. After two years of near-constant road work that included an opening slot for the Rolling Stones, the group returned to the studio and completed its sophomore album White Bear, which appeared in late 2015. Guitarist Potashnick departed the following year and was succeeded by Matt White; at the close of 2016 drummer Damon Wilson also stepped away to concentrate on family life, with Simon Lea taking his place. In 2017 the reconfigured lineup cut its third album under the guidance of producer Sam Miller, who had previously worked on the band’s releases, and the resulting A Deeper Cut arrived at the start of 2018.
