Biography
The Mississippi rock outfit known as the Weeks burst onto the scene in 2006, when its four members were still attending high school. Twin brothers Cyle Barnes, handling lead vocals, and Cain Barnes on drums, joined forces with Samuel Williams on guitar and vocals along with Damien Bone on bass. Based in Jackson, this quartet inked a deal with Esperanza Plantation and put out their first full-length effort, Cadillac Comeback, during 2008. Building upon the raw, gritty edge of their slightly Southern-leaning indie rock, they issued the Rumspringa EP in 2009. After self-releasing Dry Land Is Not a Myth as their sophomore album, the group relocated to Nashville and secured a contract with Serpents and Snakes, the imprint founded by Kings of Leon. This arrangement brought greater visibility to their third album, the catchy Gutter Gaunt Gangster, as they refined their energetic rock approach. The follow-up on that label, Dear Bo Jackson from 2014, incorporated horns and broadened their sonic palette, leading to performances across Europe alongside Kings of Leon. Serving as an interim release, the Buttons EP arrived in 2015 with four tracks, allowing the band to focus on tracking their fifth LP, Easy, at the historic Ardent Studios in Memphis during 2017.
