Formed as an Aussie-American hard rock supergroup, The Dead Daisies pull together veterans drawn from Guns N' Roses, Thin Lizzy, INXS, and the Cult. Since the arrival of their self-titled 2013 debut, the outfit has maintained a steady foothold on mainstream rock charts, powered by widely praised releases such as Make Some Noise (2016), Burn It Down (2018), and Radiance (2022).

The lineup has featured an array of established hard-rock figures, among them Guns N' Roses rhythm guitarist Richard Fortus, bassist Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy), keyboardist Dizzy Reed (Guns N' Roses), vocalist Jon Stevens (INXS), bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes (Trapeze), drummers John Tempesta (the Cult) and Deen Castronovo (Journey), plus guitarist Dave Lowy. Rolling Stones bassist Darryl Jones, Whitesnake drummer Brian Tichy, and Nine Inch Nails drummer Alex Carapetis have also contributed at various points. The 2013 EP Man Overboard spawned two singles, one of which, "Lock 'N' Load," featured a guest guitar turn by Slash and thereby reinforced the Guns N' Roses connection. Later the same year the band issued its first full-length album. In 2015 they followed with the sophomore set Revolucion, then quickly delivered their third album, Make Some Noise, in 2016. During the creation of those two records the roster expanded to include John Corabi (Mötley Crüe), Jackie Barnes (Jimmy Barnes), and Bernard Fowler (the Rolling Stones).

After documenting their prior European tour on the 2017 live album Live and Louder, the group entered the studio and emerged in April 2018 with Burn It Down. They subsequently stepped back from their hard-rock foundation, issuing a run of acoustic covers spanning Neil Young through the Who; the first such collection, Locked and Loaded, appeared in August 2019. Plans to unveil a fifth studio album, Holy Ground, in 2020 were upended by the COVID-19 pandemic, pushing the release to 2021 and prompting the interim EP The Lockdown Sessions. Bassist/vocalist Glenn Hughes (Black Country Communion, Deep Purple) joined for Holy Ground, his soulful delivery and stage command helping the record reach the Top Ten on several international charts. Ahead of the sixth album, 2022's Radiance, drummer Deen Castronovo departed; the hard-rocking effort featured the single "Shine On" and welcomed Brian Tichy back behind the kit.
