Minnesota-based vocalist Sena Ehrhardt absorbed the blues from an early age through her father, Ed Ehrhardt, a fine blues guitarist who maintained an active presence in multiple bands. Childhood piano lessons and constant singing formed the foundation of her musical life, yet the blues remained her central passion. After completing a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration at the University of Minnesota, she joined her father’s band Plan B as lead singer. She subsequently established her own group, the Sena Ehrhardt Band, retaining Ed Ehrhardt on lead guitar. Her ability to shift seamlessly between sultry and gritty deliveries, combined with a fluid command of blues, R&B, soul, funk, and reggae, positioned her as a compelling roots-music performer on the road and drew the interest of Blind Pig Records, which offered her a contract. The label issued her debut album, Leave the Light On, in 2011; seven of its tracks were co-written with her father, and the record earned favorable notice throughout the blues world. A follow-up, All In, appeared on Blind Pig in 2013. Two years later the imprint released Live My Life, which showcased an entirely new supporting ensemble.
