Shaya

Originating from California's Bay Area, Shaya developed a direct style and incisive lyrics shaped by a difficult early life. His father's mistreatment of the family placed him in multiple foster care settings for much of his youth. The artist, whose Arabic name means "Worthy," launched his rap path independently by selling mixtapes at performances, swap meets, and other local outlets across the region. A contract with Interdependent Media brought the 2008 release of his debut single, "Industry Life," and first album, Fallen Awake.
