Born in the Republic of the Congo on September 19, 1977, Singuila rose to prominence as a French R&B singer when his Top Ten single “C’est Trop” entered the mainstream in 2003. That year he issued his debut album, On Ne Vit Qu’une Fois, via EMI. While its first single, “Ma Conscience,” registered only modest success, the follow-ups “C’est Trop” and “Aïcha” reached numbers six and 21 on the French singles chart. In 2004 the singer appeared on the Top 30 duet “Thank You” alongside his EMI labelmate Jamelia. His second album, Ghetto Compositeur, arrived in 2006 after he moved to Universal Music; none of its three singles—“Le Temps Passe Trop Vite,” “Le Misérable,” and “Ma Nature”—entered the charts, marking a retreat from the pop mainstream. The 2009 release Ça Fait Mal produced the singles “Reviens Je T’en Prie” and “J’suis KO” and climbed into the albums chart’s Top 30.
