Biography
French rapper Niska, who calls Évry in Essonne home, first gained nationwide attention in 2015 upon issuing his debut album Charo Life, yet true stardom arrived two years later when the single “Réseaux” exploded. His signature blend of Auto-Tuned hooks, muscular delivery, and infectious beats created a brooding allure, and the 2019 full-length Mr. Sal ruled the French charts for five straight weeks.
Born Stan Dinga Pinto to parents who had emigrated from the Republic of the Congo, Niska launched his career inside the collective Negro Deep before inking a deal with Barclay Records, an imprint of Universal Music, for his first solo project; that effort climbed to number three on the French pop charts by the close of 2015. The follow-up, Zifukoro, arrived the next year and matched that strong showing while boasting guest spots from French rap heavyweights Booba and Maître Gims.
Capitalizing on mounting buzz, Niska delivered his third album, Commando, in 2017; it topped the French rankings, cracked the Top Ten in both Belgium and Switzerland, and was driven by the breakout single “Réseaux.” The ensuing year brought a non-album collaboration with Diplo titled “Boom Bye Bye,” after which he returned in 2019 with his fourth album, Mr. Sal, featuring contributions from Booba, Madrane, Skaodi, and additional guests and again dominating the French charts for multiple weeks.
By then an established star, Niska routinely saw later singles accumulate millions or even tens of millions of streams. Fresh partnerships materialized in 2020 alongside Landy, DJ Kayz, and Naza, while 2021 brought his own standalone releases such as “Charge” and “Bolivienne.”
