Sir Charles Jones

An R&B performer whose sound fuses throwback and contemporary elements rooted in classic Southern soul and blues, Sir Charles Jones has adopted the title Undisputed King of Southern Soul in his roles as vocalist, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. All of his recordings, beginning with the self-titled Sir Charles Jones in 2000 and continuing through Sir Charles Jones & the Family, Vol. 1 in 2019, have appeared outside the major-label system on an independent basis.

Born in Ohio, raised in Alabama, and later residing in Georgia, Jones launched his career after receiving early encouragement from Marvin Sease, issuing that debut album in 2000. The project and later efforts such as 2002’s Love Machine and 2008’s My Story registered on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Capping his second decade of releases, the 2019 album Sir Charles Jones & the Family, Vol. 1 incorporated performances by his children Charlesia and Charles III. Jones has sustained a steady touring presence throughout, headlining shows and appearing at soul and blues festivals.
