Originating from Vermont, the indie rock ensemble Sir Chloe revolves around vocalist and composer Dana Foote. Their music merges the edgy, literate approach of St. Vincent and Fiona Apple with the twang-infused, explosive energy that recalls the Pixies’ 1990s output. After “Michelle” and “Animal” achieved viral reach on social platforms in 2019, the group issued its first full-length album, I Am the Dog, in 2023.

Sir Chloe formed in 2017 while Foote studied music composition at Bennington College in Vermont. Choosing to stage a concert of original material rather than submit a senior thesis, she assembled a band that included her brother, drummer Palmer Foote, guitarist Teddy O’Mara, and several friends. The name Sir Chloe was taken from Foote’s mother. The lineup remained intact and began releasing tracks online. The 2019 viral success of “Michelle” and “Animal” led directly to the 2020 EP Party Favors. Later releases included a second version of “Michelle,” a cover of Lou Reed’s “Femme Fatale,” and the singles “Sedona,” “Mercy,” and “Company.” In 2023 the band delivered its John Congleton-produced debut album I Am the Dog, which featured the lead single “Hooves.”
