Wales' Slowly Rolling Camera emerged as a soulful ensemble whose sound blends ambient textures drawn from trip-hop, jazz, and electronic-tinged R&B. The group first appeared in 2014 and reached a broader audience through the 2016 release All Things, later widening its palette by inviting outside improvisers such as guitarist Stuart McCallum for the 2018 album Juniper and saxophonist Chris Potter on 2023's Flow.

The Cardiff-based project took shape in 2013 with Dionne Bennett handling vocals, Dave Stapleton on keyboards, Elliot Bennett at the drums, and Deri Roberts overseeing production and sound design. Edition Records issued the band's self-titled debut full-length in 2014, the same year the EP Into the Shadow surfaced. Their follow-up album All Things arrived in 2016 and included the single "Protagonist," after which Dionne Bennett stepped away. Proceeding as a trio, the musicians adopted a more instrumental direction for the eight-track Juniper, which showcased ex-Cinematic Orchestra guitarist Stuart McCallum, Belgian saxophonist Nicolas Kummert, and bassist Aiden Thorne.

Where the Streets Lead appeared in 2021 as a larger-scale effort incorporating string arrangements; alongside McCallum it enlisted tenor saxophonist Chris Potter, vocalist Sachal Vasandani, tenor and soprano saxophonist Mark Lockheart, and additional players. Flow followed in 2023, again featuring guitarist McCallum together with saxophonist Josh Arcoleo and trumpeter Verneri Pohjola.
