Biography
Originating in Essex, England, producer Austin Reynolds launched Soul Hooligan in 1997 as a solo endeavor. His debut single, “Sweet Pea,” appeared the next year. To support live performances, Reynolds recruited James Sumner—previously a member of swing band the Big 6—for keyboards, harmonica, and vocals, and Dave Jay for keyboards, melodica, and vocals. The project’s first full-length album, Music Like Dirt, arrived in spring 2002. Several tracks later surfaced in films and television, among them Driven and Austin Powers in Goldmember.
