Biography
Taking inspiration from a fictional saxophonist invented by Elvis Presley for his track “Jailhouse Rock,” the Spider Murphy Gang formed as German enthusiasts reviving rock and roll. Based in Munich, this group delivered a gritty, pub-style sound that unexpectedly thrived during the new wave dominance of early 1980s Germany, achieving Top Ten success via singles like “Skandal im Sperrbezirk” and “Schui Tog.” Despite multiple personnel shifts throughout the 1990s, the ensemble persists with performances and studio work well beyond the turn of the millennium.
