Spread Eagle

In New York City, vocalist Ray West joined forces with guitarist Paul DiBartolo, bassist Rob DeLuca, and drummer Tommi Gallo to launch Spread Eagle. Their material followed the hard rock template set by Guns N' Roses, mining subjects drawn from seedy urban decay, while adding a lethal metallic edge. The decision to sign with MCA proved costly, since the label had compiled a dismal history with hard rock and metal releases. As a result, the 1990 self-titled debut and its 1993 successor Open to the Public received scant promotion and failed to reach listeners. The musicians soon parted ways.
