Berlin-based Hanno Leichtmann, performing as Static, crafts inviting yet subtly melodic pieces offset by glitch-driven textures in the vein of several fellow artists on City Centre Offices. While readying his early-2002 album Eject Your Mind, he recruited Ronald Lippok, known through Tarwater and To Roccoco Rot, as well as vocalist Justine Electra, whose contributions appear on Tarwater’s Animals, Suns, and Atoms. Ahead of that release Leichtmann had already issued singles on audio.nl and Mermaid, the latter operating as an imprint within Jazzanova’s Sonar Kollektiv network. CCO added to the buildup by issuing the Headphones 7" as a direct preview of the forthcoming full-length.
