Welsh producer Koreless crafts intensely tactile soundscapes that largely avoid conventional rhythms, instead assembling looped samples and fragmented vocals into mesmerizing cyclical structures. Drawing from science fiction authors including J.G. Ballard alongside minimalist composers such as Steve Reich and La Monte Young, his work aims for an artificial, process-driven quality while conveying expansive emotional breadth. He formed the duo Short Stories with Sampha and has also contributed to projects involving David Byrne, FKA twigs, SBTRKT, and additional artists. Ten years after issuing his debut single, the full-length Agor finally appeared in 2021.

Lewis Roberts entered the world in Bangor, Wales. Following a move to Glasgow for Naval Architecture studies at university, Roberts immersed himself in the local electronic scene through associations with the All Caps, Lucky Me, and Numbers collectives. Prior to securing a record deal, his initial productions received airplay from James Blake, Benji B, and Gilles Peterson across club sets and British national radio broadcasts.

The first vinyl outing came via the 2011 Pictures Music single 4D/MTI, soon succeeded by partnerships with vocalist and musician Sampha under the Short Stories name as well as producer Jacques Green. Additional credits include remixes for Foals on "Late Night" and How to Dress Well on "Cold Nites," together with numerous further reinterpretations. During 2012 Roberts put out "Lost in Tokyo," which featured a Jacques Green remix on the reverse side. The subsequent EP Yugen arrived on Young Turks in 2013 and reflected a modest evolution toward atmospheric, synth-led compositions devoid of beats. A 2014 support slot for Mogwai at the Royal Festival Hall featured Roberts performing alongside a string trio, while 2015 brought extensive touring across Europe and North America alongside Caribou.

Following the 2015 single "TT," Roberts contributed songwriting or production to albums including David Byrne's American Utopia, Rita Ora's Phoenix, and FKA twigs' Magdalene, among other releases. Koreless resurfaced in 2020 via "White Picket Fence," after which the 2021 album Agor presented some of his most detailed and evocative pieces to date. A video for "White Picket Fence" directed by FKA twigs emerged soon after the album launch.
