Biography
Sepalcure formed as a garage and dubstep duo consisting of Praveen Sharma, also known as Praveen and Braille, alongside Travis Stewart, recognized under the names Syndrone and Machinedrum. The pair made their introduction in 2010 through the Hotflush imprint, which had previously issued material from Mount Kimbie and Joy Orbison, via the four-track Love Pressure EP. Its standout cut relied on gritty percussion, layered textural washes, and vocal samples that shifted between heartfelt and playful cut-up effects. After issuing another standout, atmospheric four-track 12-inch on Hotflush in January 2011, the artists followed with a self-titled full-length that earned widespread praise and placed among Pitchfork’s Top 50 albums of that year. The album cut “Eternally Yrs” was expanded into its own EP in 2012, while the independent EP Make You surfaced in 2013. Following a period focused on individual solo endeavors, the duo resurfaced in 2015 with the lush R&B single “Fight for Us,” which featured vocalist Rochelle Jordan. That track led off their 2016 album Folding Time, extending the pair’s blend of club-oriented electronic production with broader pop and R&B elements.
