Biography
Stewart Lindsey is a blues ensemble fronted by Dave Stewart, the Hollywood-based musician, songwriter, and producer, alongside singer Thomas Lindsey from DeRidder, Louisiana. Delta blues shapes the group’s riffs and melodies, while Lindsey’s high, androgynous vocals supply the defining texture. Although Stewart first gained fame through his synth-pop partnership with Annie Lennox in Eurythmics, he has since composed and produced material for Mick Jagger, Jon Bon Jovi, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, and Roxy Music’s Bryan Ferry. Lindsey entered the collaboration without any prior professional stage experience. Stewart discovered him after watching a YouTube clip of Lindsey performing a cappella, an impression strong enough to prompt an invitation for Lindsey to open a show at the Troubadour in West Hollywood. The pair issued their first album, Spitballin’, in 2016, and it climbed to number 26 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart.
