Stik Figa

John Westbrook, Jr. records as Stik Figa, a level-headed, direct emcee whose verses fuse Southern and Midwestern influences with a relaxed presence. Born in Kentucky, he regards Topeka, Kansas as home and has also resided in Memphis, Tennessee. Active from the late 2000s onward, he issued the 2007 EP Looking Good, produced by Miles Bonny and released via the beatmaker’s INnatesounds label. After delivering As Himself, an album made entirely by Michael “Seven” Summers, Westbrook signed with Mello Music Group, which reissued the brief project for broader reach. The 2013 full-length collaboration The City Under the City with L’Orange followed. Four years later he released the proper solo album Central Standard Time, drawing beats from Nottz, Black Milk, and Apollo Brown while enlisting guest verses from Rappin’ 4-Tay, Homeboy Sandman, and Quelle Chris.
