Biography
Lukas Frank, a Los Angeles musician, shapes the shadowy, warped post-punk textures that define Storefront Church. The project's first full-length effort, As We Pass, surfaced in 2021.
Frank, who grew up in Pasadena while remaining based in Los Angeles, began working as a session musician at eighteen and later toured as drummer for Portugal. The Man and Kitten before turning to his own material. Taking cues from Radiohead and Scott Walker, he tracked the Storefront Church EP alongside associates that included members of Talk in Tongues and singer/songwriter Phoebe Bridgers, then issued the finished recording himself in late 2017.
Sargent House eventually took notice and reissued the EP in 2019. His first release for the label, "The Gift," was placed in the Netflix series The Queen's Gambit. Storefront Church's debut album, As We Pass, arrived in May 2021 after being recorded with various partners, among them DIIV's Zachary Cole Smith.
