Tasha Taylor entered a world steeped in the blues as the daughter of Stax soul legend Johnnie Taylor. Music enveloped her from childhood in Dallas, where she frequently joined her father on the road to absorb the daily realities of the industry. Yet she initially charted a different course, pursuing acting instead of following his path. Early one-episode television parts came on shows including The Wayans Bros., Malcolm & Eddie, Family Matters, and Moesha, after which she trained in drama at Boston University. Appearances on Ugly Betty in 2006 and House M.D. in 2007 followed her studies, yet music eventually pulled her back. She performed with Jack Mack & the Heart Attack and joined Dan Aykroyd and Jim Belushi’s revived Blues Brothers tour revue. Solo tracks she placed on the soundtracks for Men in Trees and Lipstick Jungle paved the way for her first album, Revival, issued in 2008. Her second release, Taylormade, arrived in 2011 as an homage to her father. Signing with Ruf in 2016 brought her third album, Honey for the Biscuit. She promoted it on the Blues Caravan package tour alongside Canadian singer Layla Zoe and Finnish singer Ina Forsman, a trek commemorated by the February 2017 Ruf live recording Blues Caravan: Blue Sisters.
