Teresa Parodi, an Argentinean singer and songwriter, first engaged with music at the age of nine through vocal studies paired with guitar lessons, which soon opened doors to appearances at local festivals and a stint providing backup vocals for Astor Piazzolla. She next pursued a solo path, playing intimate rooms across Buenos Aires before issuing her debut album Teresa Parodi Desde Corrientes and then the 1983 release Canto A Los Hombres Del Pan Duro, which set works by poets Jorge Luis Borges and Jorge Calvetti to music. A 1986 joint show with Pablo Milanés at Luna Park Stadium preceded her first tours of the U.S. and Europe two years afterward. In 1995 she received the distinction of Best Composer of the Decade together with a Platinum Konex Award.
