Biography
Argentinean contemporary folk musician Peteco Carabajal drew his strongest early inspiration from his father, a participant in the Santiago Manta ensemble, once the family had relocated to Buenos Aires; that period also produced his debut success, the 1971 single El Mimoso. At seventeen he began performing vocals and helped form the Santiago Trio alongside cousin Roberto and Shalo Leguizamon. Local musician Hugo Díaz secured their first recording contract, which led to sessions featuring Agustín Gómez and percussionist Domingo Cura. By the mid-1970s Shalo Leguizamon had entered Los Huanca Hua, while Roberto and Peteco affiliated themselves with Los Carabajal. Peteco launched the M.P.A. project in 1985 and cut the album Nadie Mas Que Nadie that same year. Following a stint with Los Santiagueños, he issued Encuentro in 1991 and then Memorias De Amor in 1994.
