The Amazing

Formed by Christoffer Gunrup of Granada together with Reine Fiske of Dungen, Johan Holmegard of Dungen and Life on Earth!, and Fredrik Swahn of Anna Järvinen, The Amazing produce psychedelic indie rock marked by a dreamy, panoramic sound. Their self-titled debut appeared in 2009 on the Swedish label Subliminal Sounds and featured contributions from Fredrik Björling of Dungen plus Eric Malmberg of Sagor & Swing. The Wait for a Light to Come EP followed in 2010. After releasing their second album, Gentle Stream, in 2011, the band moved to the American label Partisan and revised its roster by removing Holmegard while adding bassist Alexis Benson and drummer Moussa Fadera. Picture You, the third LP, was tracked in a concentrated three-day session, with vocal and keyboard overdubs supplied afterward, and reached the public in early 2015. A year later came Ambulance, which documented the group’s hazy meditations through live-in-the-studio takes requiring minimal rehearsal; the sessions occurred at Buller & Bång Records in Stockholm, the same studio used for the fifth album, In Transit, issued in 2018.
