London indie pop outfit Veronica Falls crafted reverb-drenched tracks brimming with melodic hooks, mixed-gender vocal blends, and subtle undercurrents of shadow for a short span. The group lasted just five years yet issued several singles alongside two standout full-lengths before concluding with the restless 2013 effort Waiting for Something to Happen.

The quartet came together in 2009 after Roxanne Clifford and Patrick Doyle, formerly of Sexy Kids, joined forces with James Hoare from Your Twenties following an encounter at a Comet Gain show. Their friend Marion Herbain completed the lineup, and the musicians started composing material shaped by mid-'80s touchstones such as the Shop Assistants and the Chills while aligning with the noisy pop approach of peers like Grass Widow and Vivian Girls. Captured Tracks issued their opening pair of singles, "Found Love in a Graveyard" and "Beachy Head," in 2010, drawing widespread acclaim. Guy Fixsen, whose prior credits included My Bloody Valentine and Moose during the '80s, joined forces with Ash Workman, known for work with 2010s acts such as Metronomy and Summer Camp, to record the debut album; the sessions yielded a seamless fusion of those decades. The single "Bad Feeling" arrived first in August 2011, paving the way for the self-titled Veronica Falls, which surfaced the following month via Slumberland in the U.S. and Bella Union in the E.U. After extensive global touring throughout the year, the band resurfaced in November 2012 with the new track "Teenage." They followed it up in early 2012 with the release of the Rory Attwell (Male Bonding, the Vaccines) co-produced album Waiting for Something to Happen. The members parted ways in 2014. Hoare subsequently appeared in groups including the Proper Ornaments and Ultimate Painting, while Clifford launched solo output under the name Patience. Doyle resurfaced in 2016 with a self-titled album under the Boys Forever banner. He passed away in March 2018 at age 32.
