Biography
Paul Doucette, the former drummer who later took up guitar duties in Matchbox Twenty, launched The Break and Repair Method as an outlet for his own work. Though his range falls short of the group’s frontman Rob Thomas, Doucette delivers vocals with striking effectiveness and warmth, while his finest material blends Beatles-inspired songcraft with the sensibility of a power-pop Randy Newman. He began laying down tracks during a hiatus from Matchbox Twenty, enlisting Tracy Bonham, his wife Moon Zappa, and bandmate Matt Beck among others; after several label arrangements collapsed, the result was a complete and striking album, Milk the Bee, issued in 2008 on Bluhammock Records.
