Biography
Infusing contemporary country-pop with a neo-traditional edge, the sibling trio the Castellows add extra warmth to their southern-life themes through three-part vocal harmonies. Their major-label recording debut arrived in 2023 via the single “No. 7 Road,” which honors the Nashville-based group’s Georgia origins.
Formed as a sister act by two members of a set of triplets (their brother sits out the band) plus their younger sibling, the Castellows grew up in the small town of Georgetown, Georgia, on the rural Georgia-Alabama line. All three perform and play multiple instruments, yet the youngest, Lilian “Lily” Balkcom, handles lead vocals while Eleanor “Ellie” Balkcom handles guitar and Powell Balkcom handles banjo. They first attracted label attention after amassing more than a million social-media followers through covers of songs originally associated with the Animals, Ed Sheeran, and Jason Isbell. To establish themselves properly, the group moved to Nashville, adopted their name from their great-grandmother’s maiden name, and devoted much of 2023 to writing and tracking a debut album. After signing with Warner Records, they released their debut single, “No. 7 Road,” in October of that year.
