Emerging in the vein of Squarepusher and Animals on Wheels as a production outfit steeped in fusion textures within drill'n'bass, the Clifford Gilberto Rhythm Combination first surfaced on Ninja Tune's 1998 Funkungfusion compilation before issuing their debut album I Was Young and I Needed the Money later that same year. They also supplied remixes for Coldcut, the label heads at Ninja Tune.
