Biography
Originating from Los Angeles, the Dead Ships deliver an untamed strain of melodic indie rock that draws partial inspiration from the Pixies. Early in 2012, singer/guitarist Devlin McCluskey and drummer Christopher Spindelilus issued their self-released LP Electric Ahab, which prompted comparisons to the White Stripes. After bassist Alex Moore joined the lineup, the group cultivated a following through high-energy concerts and airplay on California alt-rock stations, paving the way for the 2015 arrival of EP 1. Broken Social Scene’s Brendan Canning produced the EP, having developed an interest in the Dead Ships upon witnessing them perform live. Their first major-label release, Citycide, surfaced in June 2016 through Nevado Records.
