Skaters

Formed by musicians who had arrived in New York City from elsewhere, Skaters adopted the metropolis as creative inspiration, channeling into their music the raw drive of the post-punk and new wave eras that had defined the city years before. The quartet—singer Michael Ian Cummings, guitarist Joshua Hubbard, bassist Dan Burke, and drummer Noah Rubin—assembled in 2011 and soon landed a contract with Warner Brothers Records on the strength of their earliest gigs. Schemers, their opening EP, surfaced in 2012; they then tracked their debut full-length, Manhattan, at Electric Lady Studios before issuing the album in 2014.
